Jack of all skills, master of some.
My journey started way back when I was a kid, when the technology was nowhere near what we have today. I had to use my imagination and drawing was something I naturally liked doing. I also credit my mom for nurturing a creative child.
In high school, I was fortunate enough to have a rockstar art teacher who was great at identifying the natural talents of her students. Mrs. Kennedy helped me to identify my talent – design. I knew my path then, and I went on to post-secondary school for graphic design and developed my design thinking skills.
After graduation, an opportunity to work at an ad agency called Palmer Jarvis (which later became DDB Canada) was presented to me. It wasn’t glamorous, it was studio work (grunt work) but I did it anyways to learn the advertising business, be exposed to the top talent in Canada and further develop my skills. I was also fortunate to gain insight at other agencies such as Rethink Canada and Ogilvy & Mather. No schooling could compare to the time spent at these agencies.
Young, ambitious and ready to prove myself, I started a small boutique design studio. During this time, I learned how to run a design business and was fortunate to work with some great brands like 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, Laplink Software, Boston Pizza, Vancouver Playhouse Wine Festival, The Red Cross and Earls Restaurants to name a few.
After many wins, humbling setbacks, and lessons learned, I now operate as an independent designer in the area of design thinking for the digital world. A Jack of all skills, master of some.
Focused
I love to design for both print and web but juggling multiple projects isn’t fun for anyone so I work on one project or contract at a time. Focused and dedicated to deliver successful design solutions to stakeholders of an organization or contribute to the team.
Fluent
I provide design solutions but I also keep up with modern development, technology and marketing practices. Having a deeper undertsanding of all the moving parts of a project allows me to communicate better between stakeholders and team members.
